Darrel,
It's Lisa, your "other daughter". Thank you for you and Denny always making me feel such a part of the family, even in the beginning. I will keep my promise and always be there for your family, especially, Denny, Cassie, Anthony and Jennifer. I feel so honored to have been able to be a caregiver for you in your final days.
Love You Always,
"Leesie" (Lisa Blackburn,RN)
P.S. The service today was very special. Your family did you proud. Jennifer was so strong and proud- like her dad!

There are very few words that can comfort a family at a time like this. I missed Darrel at the Coley reunion in 2009 and he couldn't make it to the one in 2010. He was truly missed at the last one. His health was the main topic of conversation. Several prayers were lifted up that day hoping that God would comfort Darrel and grant him peace.
Today, I pray that the family finds a way to deal with Darrel's passing. Know that he is at rest with Jesus and his hard fight is over. You have my deepest sympathy.

Deny and family, Sometimes people cross paths and make a connection in one way or another and we might wonder how or why. We usually don't question why it happens, but I would like to think that my very short friendship with Darrel was a two way street and that we both enjoyed each others company. We didn't seem to have a whole lot in common at first, but somehow we just clicked. He was a man of his word and if he told you he was going to do something it always got done. He loved his family with all his heart and was very proud of all of you. All of us should consider ourselves very lucky to have had a friend like him in our lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Darrel we are really going to miss you at Bethpage. I am going to miss you stopping by in the mornings (after you've been up since 4am) on your highrise-fourwheelin' golf cart with coffee and a hug. This summer isn't going to be the same without you. Who is going to make Maple St. "deer steaks"??? They were the best!!!! We will always remember "DL". Campfires and good times!!! We will miss you greatly! God Bless.
