EVANS, Marian Skipwith, departed this life September 27, 2010. She was the eldest of seven children born to the late Erma and Willie Skipwith in South Hill, Va. The family later moved to Richmond, where she met and married her spouse of 62 years, the late Charles E. Evans Jr. She was employed by the Charles Department Store on Broad Street and later worked at Van de Vyer School and retired from Friends Association for Children on St. John Street She enjoyed her work because she was delighted to be with children. Marian was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and later transferred to St. Peter's Catholic. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Ambrose, Donald and Calvin Skipwith. She is survived by three sisters, Gladys Skipwith, Catherine Caldwell and Cordelia Massenburg; several nieces and nephews, including Odessa Davis, Janosko Skipwith; and a host of great and great-great-nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Mary Skipwith of South Hill, Va. Her in-laws include faithful nephews, Leon J. Evans, Robert, John and Charles Evans; nieces, Gloria Greene, Emily and Ruth Little; devoted great-niece and namesake, Marian E. Roach of Georgia. To Baby Ruth, Leon and other family members,

Your Aunt was one of the SWEETEST people that I ever knew. We know she is now at peace and rest. She knew that she was so blessed to have you, who were as devoted as you were to her and I know she loved and appreciated you for that. She spoke of that often during the times I visited her. Sincerely,

Lula Lamb
