Julian Burgess

BURGESS, Julian Carrington, 74, of White Stone, died Friday, October 1, 2010. He was a member and deacon of Harmony Grove Baptist Church at Locust Hill, a commercial masonry contractor in Richmond for 37 years, member of Richmond Business Men's Association and Richmond Homebuilders Association. Mr. Burgess was president of the Tabbs Creek Civic Association for 15 years and served as chairman of the dredging committee for 16 years and also was a member of Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club and Model A Club, both of Richmond and a charter board member of the Steamboat Era Museum in Irvington. Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Ann Burton Burgess; four daughters, Judith Christian O'Brien of San Diego, Calif., Cynthia Lloyd of Hanover, Sandra Phillips of Charlotte, N.C. and Bonnie Hunt of New Kent; six grandchildren, Brooke and Courtney O'Brien, Carter and Tyler Phillips and Harrison and Jacob Hunt; a sister, Anne Jones of Miskimon; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Byiers of Mechanicsville and Stephanie Martin of Amsterdam, The Netherlands; and a stepson, Ron Martin Jr. of Glen Allen. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 4 at Harmony Grove Baptist Church, Locust Hill. Interment will be in Irvington Baptist Church Cemetery, Irvington.
