Donald Baird

BAIRD, Donald E., 63, of Chester, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010 at his residence. Born in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., he was the son of the late Dalton C. and Margaret Langley Baird. Mr. Baird was a United States Army veteran, a member of the Petersburg American Legion Post #2 and the Petersburg Fraternal Order of Eagles #882. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bonnie S. Baird; two daughters, Rhonda Dratwick and husband, John, of Kernersville, N.C. and Kelley Baird and friend, Mel Barnaby, of Chester; four grandchildren, James, Sarah, Bradley and J.P.; siblings, Thomas Baird and wife, Bonnie, Nelson Baird and wife, Rita, Lisa Cox and husband, Gene; and his loving K-9 companion, "Hunter." A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with Pastor Greg Hand officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
