I grew up right down the road from this legendary woman. I have many memories of her from when I was growing up. I am sorry that I didn't know all the wonderful things she did for the county I grew up in until I was an adult. I do now understand why my parents called her the Queen of New Kent though. There will never be another Thelma Wilson! It is hard to be sad about such a deserving person going to be with God. RIP Thelma Rose Crump Wilson.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Thelma Rose Crump Wilson's family and friends at this time. She married my husband and me almost exactly just 4 years ago and opened up her home for us, not once but twice. She got a phone call in the middle of us saying our vows down on her dock and after that day, she called us back when we got back from our honeymoon and demanded that we come back and do our vows another time with no interruptions. To make it even more special, she married my husband's parents exactly 30 years before that, back in 1976. She was so special and our whole family will never forget her and how sweet she was. I remember her always because of The Marriage Creed that she gave us and all of the couples that she married.
I would like to share a photo of our wedding with Thelma Rose Crump Wilson to show how special she made our day.

Grammy, we will miss you but will see you again! What a privilege to have been a small part of your life here on earth, but I look forward to spending eternity with you, praising Jesus! Momma Jeane, Aunt Inez, Uncles Drexel, Aldon, Dusty, & Bobby, my heart and prayers go out to you, but take comfort in knowing that Grammy is in Jesus's arms and lived a very rich, rewarding life here. I love and miss all of you.

I first met Thelma Wilson in 1973. She loved New Kent County with a passion that will never be matched. I will always remember her at the County Fair or Board meetings. I thought it was so great when she participated in the Senior Olympics. I knew her as an intelligent, creative, passionate, and caring person. I'm glad she had a long life, and I will always have fond memories of her. Rest in Peace Miss Thelma Rose. You will be missed by many, but never forgotten.

We have been truly blessed to know a person with such a big heart and great vision. We felt that she has been the matriarch of New Kent County for a great while.
