Beatrice Burgess

BURGESS, Beatrice "Bea," 78, of Farhnam, Va., passed away at home with family on Monday, June 28, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer that took her life, but not her spirit nor sense of humor. The daughter of Monrad and Annie Hildahl, she was born in Mentor, Minn., in 1932 and the family moved to the Litchville, N.D., area in 1937. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters. She was also more recently preceded in death by her husband, Marvin F. Burgess, to whom she was married for 52 years prior to his passing in March. The couple met in California and settled in Virginia. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Burgess of Yorktown, Va.; her son, Michael Burgess and daughter-in-law, Betsy Burgess, of Powder Springs Ga.; grandson, Matthew Burgess; and granddaughter, Taylor Burgess, both of Powder Springs, Ga. She is also survived by her sister and brothers, Hazel Hildahl of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Gilbert Hildahl of Lamoure, N.D., and Owen Hildahl of Grand Rapids, Mich. The family will receive friends at Oakland United Methodist Church from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2010. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
