CARR, Beatrice Dixon "Pat," 87, died November 23, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Howard Leon Carr; her two sisters, Ruby McCarron and Dorothy Campbell. She is survived by her sons, Gerald E. "Jerry" Carr and his wife, Maggie, Richard L. Carr "Rick" and his wife, Marcia; also survived by the grandchildren she loved so much, Melisa Fitzgerald and her husband, David, Briana Gary and her fianc‚, Alan Holman, and Eric, Brandt, and Mitchell Carr. She is survived by two great-grandchildren, Coralyn Gary and baby girl Fitzgerald, due in January 2010. She is also survived by her brother, William J. Dixon Jr. and his wife, Beverly Anne, of Jacksonville, Fla. Pat was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and a resident of Lakewood Manor. She worked for C&P Telephone in Richmond and Southern Bell in Raleigh, N.C. before retiring to North Myrtle Beach, S.C. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, November 28, 2009, at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, with a memorial service immediately following visitation. Interment will be private. Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Richmond, Va.

I have the sweetest memory of your Mother at Mama's (Mary Dixon) celebration of life in May of this year. We are thankful we got the chance to visit with Bea and enjoy her sense humor. My husband Robert(Bear)and myself give our condolences to all of your family. We hope in time to come we all will get to meet and get to know each other again. Dear Jerry and Ricky- Barnie and I will miss your Mother very much, especially at this time of the year when we would go to church with her during Christmas. She was such a warm and loving person which is so indicative of so many of the Dixons. I know that this will be a sad time for both of you but Bea lived a long and wonderful life and I am sure she was extremely proud of you and your families. Our thoughts are with you.
