ANTHONY, Bernice Dorothy Vaughan, 88, formerly of Richmond, died on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at The Orchard in Warsaw. Born in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late John Elwood and Lula Mayhew Vaughan. She was preceded in death by her husband, The Reverend Victor B. Anthony III; her brother, Herman Vaughan; and her sister, Kitty Carson. She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Beard; her daughter, Carole Poland and her husband, Jim; her sons, Leslie and his wife, Diane, Larry and his wife, Susan; and David and his wife, Stephanie; three grandchildren, Ric Anthony (Sheila), Stephen Poland (Sally) and Susan Poland Giancola (Tom); and six great-grandchildren, Kyle Anthony, William Poland, James Poland, Emma Giancola, Mia Giancola and April Young; nephews, Johnny Vaughan, Steve Carson and Shawn Carson; and nieces, Betty Jean Vaughan and Romayne Beard. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 4, at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service in Altavista. Graveside services will be held at Fort Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg at 11 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010, by the Rev. Allan Murphy. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 823, Lynchburg, Va. 24505.
