Brenda Lovins Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Jun. 9, 2010.
LOVINS, Brenda Warriner, 68, of Henrico, a well-respected and loved antique dealer in the Richmond area, went to be with the Lord on June 7, 2010 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her brother, Rufus D. Warriner, and is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Michael Lovins; her sister, Evelyn Mae Spindler; her brother, Billy Warriner; three adoring children, Michael Lovings Jr., Stephen Lovings, and Pamela Lovings Bosetti; and eight grandchildren. Brenda will be sorely missed by her family and countless friends she has done business with over the last 40 years. She was extremely passionate about her love of the antique business as well as the cherished friendships she established along the way. Her knowledge of the business coupled with her honesty and giving nature will not soon be forgotten. In addition to her passion for the antique business, Brenda was an angel and caregiver to many family members including her mother, Evelyn Warriner; mother-in-law, Frances Lovins; father-in-law, Noah Elmer Lovins; and her uncle, Herbert Thomas. The burial will be private out of respect for Brenda's wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.

Dear Michael, I just recently heard about Brenda, and was so shocked and sorry that I didn't know! I have known you both almost all of my life, and went to middle school with her, hung out together, and saw you two date and marry. Our chidren and grandchildren went to school together also. Although I didn't see her often, I always thought alot of her and often saw her at various sales and shows. We always reviewed the past and laughed over things that happened in our life. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope and pray that you will find peace in the fact that Brenda's was a life of many accomplishments, and I was proud to know her. God bless you and your family. Judy Parker Thatcher

I found this and was touched deeply. To my loving mother whom I miss every day from her daughter Pam. "God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "come to me". With tearful eyes I watched you as you slowly passed away. Although I love you dearly, I couldn't make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke my heart to prove to me he only... takes the best". Thanks to each of you who posted a tribute to my mother. Your kind words are appreciated more than you know. I find myself wanting to pick up the phone and talk to my mother every day and am sure that many of you share the same sentiments. God bless her sweet and caring soul:)

Brenda was one of the most respected members of the Richmond Antiques community, and the high esteem in which she was held was richly deserved. She had superb taste, endless integrity, and a great willingness to share her vast knowledge. It was a privilege to know her.

I have known this special and gifted lady for many years. She never lacked for information and shared it tastefully. Having a conversation with Brenda was like opening Google. She extended her hand to those in need always putting herself last. Now we have her memories to draw strength upon. My deepest sympathy to Michael and family. May the Lord protect and keep her for eternity.

Over the years we've done a lot of antiques' shows with Brenda, and her passing brings sadness to our "family." We in this business may not be related but we're still a family: some members you're close to, see or speak to often, while others (some of whom you may not even remember their names) are those you see occasionally at reunions or other get-togethers. Perry and I never really knew Brenda well.. were not really "friends" as such, but still we knew of her commitment to, her caring for, family and friends, and we will miss her, as we do other members of our "special" family who have passed. To her "conventional" family and her friends, please know you're in our thoughts and prayers. And remember, she's ALWAYS with you.

We were saddened to learn of Brenda's passing. She was one of our earliest and best antiques friends in the Richmond area. For more than 35 years (we arrived in Richmond in 1974) she kept us posted on the happenings in the Richmond antiques scene. She was first and always a faithful caregiver to friends and family. Brenda will be sadly missed by so many many good friends in the antiques world. She always put people first.
