Carl Haga Obituary

HAGA, Carl D., 79, of Blacksburg, Va., formerly of Clarksville, Va., passed away at Montgomery Regional Hospital on September 21, 2010. Carl was the son of Charles N. and Elsie H. Haga. He was preceded in death by one brother, Leon Haga; and two sisters, Ruth Collins and Margaret Ellen Rogers. Carl was the widower of Doris T. Haga. He is survived by two sons, Gary D. Haga of Hiwassee, Va., and Dennis C. Haga of Woodbridge, Va.; one daughter, Diane H. Flynn of Centreville, Va.; three granddaughters and two grandsons. He is also survived by two brothers, James C. Haga of Salem, Va., Howard B. Haga of Pulaski, Va.; and a sister, Barbara Smith of Pulaski, Va. Besides being a loving father and grandfather, Carl served his country in the Korean War and worked as an engineering technician for the Department of the Army at Fort Belvoir, Va. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and skeet shooter. He was a longstanding member of the Buggs Island Wildlife Club. Each year a skeet shoot is held there in honor of his contributions. A memorial service will be held at Watkins-Cooper-Lyons Funeral Home in Clarksville, Va. on October 9, 2010 at 1 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va.
