Caroline FORTUNE Obituary

FORTUNE, Caroline Childs, of Milford, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 2, 2009 at Retreat Doctors' Hospital in Richmond. Caroline was born on November 24, 1922, to the late Carl and Lucy Childs. Survivors include her husband, William Henry Fortune; one son, William Purcell Fortune; three daughters, Sylvia Mae Gray, Judith Doyle Scott and Barbara Trevor Brooks; 10 grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, four sons-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Caroline was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia; a son, Melvin; and all of her siblings. Visitation will be Friday, November 6, 2009 from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at C.W. Edwards Funeral Home, Inc., 16476 Richmond Turnpike, Bowling Green, Va. 22427, and one hour before service at the church on Saturday. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, at St. John Baptist Church, 17080 South River Road, Woodford, Va. 22580. Rev. Dr. W. G. Berryman, pastor, will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Online condolences are available at cwedwardsfuneralhome.com.
