OLLIVER, Charles Joffre, 61, entered eternal life on October 19, 2009 in Richmond, Va. He died at home with family and support after a battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). He was born in Allegheny County, Pa. in 1947 to the late Joffre and Martha Olliver. He is survived by his strong and loving wife of 39 years, Elizabeth Olliver; two daughters, Kristin and her husband, Christopher Adkins, and Monique Olliver; grandchildren, Ashly Adkins, Lauren Adkins, and Patrick Olliver, all of Richmond, Va.; his sister, Lucette and husband, Jeff Davis; and niece, Katie of Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a graduate of Point Park University. He retired from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of General Services as the chief operating officer in April 2008. A special thank you goes out to all his friends and family that helped him through his courageous fight with ALS, Parkinson's and dementia. He lived a better life having the support from Sara Stein at the ALS Association, care from the VA McGuire Hospital, the PVA (Paralyzed Veterans of America), Hospice of Virginia, and the care from Home Instead. A special "CHEERS" goes to the "Friday night group" at Sergio's Restaurant. His love and memory will live on in all who touched his life. A memorial service will be held at the Patrick Henry Building on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the ALS Association DC/Md./Va. Chapter at www.ALSinfo.org.

Chuck will be missed greatly specially on Fridays. He was a great person and it is comforting to know that his legacy lives on in his children and grandchildren.
Chuck was a fortunate man to have had such a devoted and loving wife, children and Grandchildren.

My thoughts are with Kristen and her family on the untimely death of her father. I hope that the family finds comfort in their memories of him and the excellent care and attention they gave him during his illness. It was a gift that he was able to die at home surrounded by his family. I am sure that Ashly, Lauren and Patrick will help to carry on his legacy.
