Jean Ruth Olliver

Jean Ruth Olliver, 80, of Fulshear, Texas, wife of Richard Alan Olliver, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Houston Methodist Continuing Care Hospital in Katy, Texas. A native of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Olliver was the daughter of the late George and Ruth Maurer Lang. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Olliver is survived by her sons; Gregory Olliver (Paulina) of NYC, New York, & Brian Olliver (Yulin) of Los Angeles, California, and granddaughters, Matilda and Bexley. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Reynolds of Houston, Texas, and brother, George Lang, of Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Jean was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Originally trained as a nurse at Allentown Hospital and Moravian College, she worked for many years in the nursing profession. A number of family relocations to Texas and New Jersey enabled Jean to pursue additional academic interests. She studied at Sam Houston State College in Texas, and went on to earn an English Teaching Certificate from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. While living in New Jersey and Texas, she renewed an early interest in art, and began oil painting under the tutelage of several local prominent artists. As a full-time professional oil painter for over 25 years, she has been recognized internationally for her work.

Memorial services celebrating the life of Jean Olliver will be held on October 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Schmidt Funeral Home, 1344 West Grand Parkway South, Katy, Texas, 77494, with telephone # 281-391-2424. Following the service, a reception will be held for attendees at the same location.
