Charles Parrish Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Jan. 2 to Jan. 3, 2010.
PARRISH, Charles Peter, died peacefully at his home on December 31, 2009. Peter was the son of the late William Joseph Parrish and Kathleen Rogerson Parrish, brother of the late William Joseph Parrish Jr., and father of the late Charles Kent Parrish. He was a graduate of St. Christopher's School and the University of Virginia, and one of UVa's most loyal football fans. Peter was a vice president at Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company. In retirement, he served as treasurer of the Virginia Genealogical Society. Also important in his life was the Wednesday Fellowship Group. For pleasure, he loved his garden in Louisa. Peter had a gentle soul and a caring heart. He will be truly missed by his wife, Sarah Kent Parrish; his daughter, Clair W. Parrish; his son, Edward R. Parrish and his wife, Sarah Gray Parrish; and his grandsons, Randolph and Whit Parrish. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Parrish Stringfellow, and sisters-in-law, Anne Moore Parrish and Martha A. Kent, and a wonderful group of nieces and nephews and their families. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Christopher's School Scholarship Fund.

Oh Parrishes, I am so very sorry for your loss. Your Dad was such a nice man. I would always see him out and about walking the dog with your Mom. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Fondly, Lucy Berndt
