Doris Hurley Obituary

HURLEY, Doris Onley, died of chronic heart failure on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Chesterfield Health Care Center, Brandermill Woods. She was 91. Born in Modestown, Va. on January 15, 1918, she was the daughter of Marvin and Lula Onley. She married Charles Dennard Hurley in 1936 and they resided on their Atlantic, Va. farm for 65 years. He died in 2000. Active in the Order of the Eastern Star, she served as Worthy Grand Matron for the Virginia Order and was an active member of the Atlantic United Methodist Church, where she served for many years as treasurer. Miss Doris is survived by her daughters, Dianne Hurley and her partner, Holly Jones, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Debbie Blanchard and her husband, John, of Midlothian, Va.; cousin, John Charles Grey of Modestown; sister-in-law, Mary H. Hickman of Parksley, Va.; niece, Barbara Rhodes of Reisterstown, Md.; nephew, Charles Robert Hickman of Atlantic; great-nephew, Kevin Rhodes; sister-in-law, Joyce Hurley, Naples, Fla.; nephew, Peyton Dennard "Bud" Hurley of Memphis, Tenn.; and nieces, Nancy Klepper of Memphis, Linda Hurley of Naples, Fla., Vicki Hurley of Memphis and Laurie Clark of Charlotte, N.C. Memorial services will be held at The Chesterfield at Brandermill Woods, 2100 Brandermill Parkway, Midlothian, Va., on January 19, 2010 at 10 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Bon Secours Hospice, Richmond, Va.
