Dorothy HEINZ Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Oct. 24 to Oct. 25, 2009.
HEINZ, Dorothy "Dot" Smith, 76, of Richmond, beloved wife of Edward R. Heinz and mother of Pamela and Skip Heinz, went to eternal rest on October 22, 2009. Dot and Ed were due to celebrate 53 years of marriage. She loved her family with all her heart and cherished her many dear friends. She really enjoyed fishing, hosting family gatherings and doing for others. She will be missed more than any words could possibly convey. There are many memories to hold dear for those who loved and knew her. She was born in Cadogan, Pa. on August 31, 1933 to Michael and Rose Smith from the Ukraine. She is also survived by her brother, Larry; sisters, Liz and Peggy; and grand-children, Nate, Matt and Alysa. Gone before her to greet her are her parents; brothers, Joe, Eddie and Phillip; half-brothers, Mike and Johnny; sisters, Helen and Hilda; as well as infant twin siblings. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 26, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 8200 Woodman Road. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park.

Pam, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. It has been years since I have seen you, but memories of the past come flooding back. Hang on to your memories of your mom. In time they will provide comfort. Take care,

Dear Pam,
I hadn't seen your Mom for many years, but remember her from working at Dominion. She was such a great person, and had a wonderful spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Ed, Pam and Skip,
All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Dot was a wonderful wife, mother and friend...she always made me feel welcome...both as a child with sleepovers at the house with Pam as well as an adult...talking together in the backyard. I know that she is with Jesus in peace.
Fondly,
Linda Rutherford-Sadler (Atlanta, GA)
