HORNBERGER, Fred Carl Sr., 83, died April 3, 2010 in Shallotte, N.C. He was born March 28, 1927 in Sandston, Virginia. He was a member of the 11th Airborne Division, U.S. Army and a veteran of World War II and Korea. He retired from the state of Virginia as a masonry instructor. He was a member of Ragland Memorial Baptist Church, Sandy Hook, Va. and a member of American Legion Post 215, Goochland, Va. He moved to Shallotte, N.C. in September 2009. He is survived by his wife, Ruby (Judy Hodges) Hornberger of Shallotte, N.C.; sons, Fred C. Hornberger Jr. and wife, Christa, of Goochland, Va. and Mark E. Hornberger and wife, Cathy, of Supply, N.C.; grandchildren, Jamie Lindsay of Hanover, Va., Gisela Hornberger, Rudy Hornberger of Goochland, Va., Ashley Hornberger and Amber Hornberger of Supply, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Caleb Lindsay and Isabella J. Freeman; brothers, Norman Hornberger and wife, Janiece, Herman Hornberger and wife, Connie; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
