Ouida Hewett Obituary
Born in Brunswick County, North Carolina on July 8, 1961, she was a daughter of the late Freeman Hewett and Ouida Hewett Hewett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Kenny Hewett and a sister Lisa Pye.
Lori retired from Brunswick County Park & Recreation, where she was a supervisor of the Lockwood Folly Park in Supply.
Surviving are her sister Lynn Ellis, Shallotte, NC; brothers Reggie Hewett, Shallotte, NC and Van Hewett (Sue), Hampstead, NC; nieces and nephews, Erica Smith (Randy), Stacey Pye Efron (Greg), Sara Carico (Ian), Gaston Hewett, Robin Bennett (Cameron) and Elizabeth Motsinger (Nathan); six great nieces and three great nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2025, at 2:00PM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte Chapel officiated by the Reverend Dr. Bob Weathers. Burial will follow in the Hewett Family Cemetery on Holden Beach Road, Supply, NC.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Randy Smith, Ian Carico, Aaron Parker, Cody Babson, Cameron Bennett and Steve Nagy. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Brunswick County Parks & Recreation.

I have many fond memories when I was very young of my parents stopping by mama's neice, Ouida Mae, Freeman, Lori and the rest of the family when we came regularly from Aberdeen to our cottage on the intercostal waterway. Lori was only 7 months older than I so we always hung out together while our parents visited. Lori even help me pull one of my baby teeth that was loose when we were at her home visiting. I came down home right after my sweet mama, Vonnie Holden Smith passed away in 1994 on Ouida Mae's birthday January 10th, and I spent a night with them and Lori took me by the park she was over on the Greenswamp Road, I surmised that was the Lockwood Folly Park she was over for many years. Lori was always good and kind to me. I regret I lost contact with her because of letting the demands of life take the place of what the important things really are, we all are guilty of this. Lori, I'm sure your mama, and my mama were right at heaven's gates with open arms in addition to Aunt Bea, your daddy and Siblings to welcome you in. I know I will see you again in the not too distant future along with many of our dear loved ones that have gone on before us. Lynn, Reggie and Van, I'm thinking and keeping you all in my heart during this sad time of loss. My prayers are with you all.
