CREIGHTON, Garland Neal Sr., a lifelong resident of Stamford, Conn., who relocated to Richmond, Va., in 2007, departed this life peacefully on September 30, 2010. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Fredricka Sanders Creighton; two loving children, Joyce Bolden (Arthur) and Garland Jr. (Gwendolyn), all of Richmond, Va.; a niece, Kim Thompson (Eric) of Winchester, Va.; four grandchildren, Aaronde Creighton (Jennifer) and Shenika Carson (Michael), all of Atlanta, Ga., Rasheeda Matthews (Javan) of Richmond, Va., and Andrew Bolden of Stamford, Conn.; five great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends. Garland served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was an active and devoted member of Union Baptist Church in Stamford, Conn., for over 50 years. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Faith and Family Church, 7900 Walmsley Blvd., Richmond, Va. 23235. Calvin Duncan, pastor. Rev. Gwendolyn Young will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Rd., Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060, or via the website at www.alz.org/grva/inmycommunitydonate.asp in the name of Garland N. Creighton Sr.
