He and his family also lived in Korea (1965-1967), where he served as assistant chief of staff of the United Nations Command concerned with military and political affairs. He ended his military career as director of the Navy's Foreign Military Assistance Division (1967-1971), service for which he received the Legion of Merit. Married to his beloved wife Ruth for 67 years, the couple had three children: Polly, Peggy, and George Jr. Polly resides with her husband, David Long, in Mt. Airy, N.C. Dear George, Jr. and Family,
While I never had the honor of meeting George Hagerman, his distinguished service to his country and family clearly more than self-evident in this memorial tribute.

Thank our Lord and our country for patriots such as this gentleman.

Godspeed to You.

Kindest Regards,
Jerry Giles

Chet and I send our condolences to you, Aunt Ruth, and to the entire family and we are so sorry for your loss. Uncle George held a special and steady place in my heart since childhood and I am so glad that I was able to have a short visit with him last year at ATlantic Shores. May the Lord--the God of all Comfort--be with you during this time of change and loss. With love from Kathy & Chet Bojanowski
