I was deeply saddened, yet rejoiceful when Cousin Thelma called with the news about Cousin Harry.
Saddend that he is gone, and so very rejoiceful that "he has kept the faith; ran the race, and finished his course."
I will never forget Cousin Harry was not only the first one to register and offer to pay for the 2000 Crump family reunion in Hampton, but the winner (KING) of the Reunion's oldest male participant. He was so humble in his winning, and the homemade "robe and crown," that made him look like the astute "King" (of the family) that he was.
It was family (Elders) like cousin Harry whose legacies and sacrifices we will never know (in full) that caused God to bless that Reunion so, I most humbly believe
It was truly prayed for to be a blessing for those from our past, (Elders) and those in our future (Prince & Princess also crowned)Kids.
I thank God for Cousin Harry's quaint demeanor, kind voice, and pride of family he so well displayed the awesome 96 yrs. of his life.
We must continue to hold our elders close, for like cousin Harry--"it is" (for many of us) "later than the hour when we first believed."
God's continued blessings, and my prayers of strength go out to all of the family. How blessed we were to have had our very own "Harry L. Crump" for almost a century! Thanks be to God for the wonderful things that He's done!
Love,
Cousin(s) Pauline, and all of the local Crump family in the Hpt./NPN area.

To the Crump Family,
The Christian Family will always remember Mr. Harry as a kind and loving neighbor. We will miss his beautiful gardens and fruit trees. He was so generous in making sure that he shared his bountiful garden with us and for being so faithful to our church. He was a great man of God. We will miss him and remember him always. He was like a part of our family.

I worked with Harry at Chesapeake Corporation until his retirement. He always had a smile for everyone and was a pleasure to be arount. Each Spring he and I would challenge each other to see who could get our green peas in the ground and to maturity the earliest. At 96 years the Lord blessed him with a long life. I would like to extent my sympathy to the family.
