HASSEL CONRAD HIGH

HIGH, Hassel Conrad, 78, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Richmond, Va., died on Wednesday, June 3, 2010 in Ocala. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy W. and Ethel Mae High; and two brothers, James and Howard High. Conrad served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He then worked at Micheux in LA and Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Wash. Later, he worked at the Air National Guard in Sandston, Va., where he retired after 25 years of service. He was a man of many talents and received many awards for his accomplishments. He was known to always help others and was an animal lover and activist. Conrad leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Mary Jane Cathcart High, Ocala; son, Hassel Conrad High Jr., Richmond, Va.; stepsons, Cameron Lee Cathcart, Ocala and Michael A. Cathcart, Philadelphia, Tenn.; beloved cousin, Gladys M. Mann, Richmond, Va.; special friend, Harry Pritchard; and his dog, Sammy. A committal service will be held at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. with full Military Honors. Condolences may be given to www.hiers-baxley.com.
