BROWN, Horace Smith, 86, of Richmond, Va., a kind and friendly man, passed away on January 11, 2011. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from GAB Business Services, Inc. as a multi-line adjuster for over 36 years, and represented, as a field agent, the Mutual Assurance Society of Virginia for several years. He was the son of William Martin Smith and Nora Greenway Smith; with an adopted mother; Launa Morris Brown; his sisters, Marie S. Rumsey, Sara S. Eargle Burton; and a brother, William B. Smith preceded in death. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Reamy Brown; daughter, Barbara Neal Brown; son, Denver Jason Brown; three nieces, Mary R. Bryant, Beth R. Mullikin (Roger), Linda R. Hayes (Charles); several cousins, grandnieces, grand nephews and may devoted friends. His two favorite groups of friends were the Monday "Lunch Bunch" and the "Saturday Morning Coffee Group." He was a member of Derbyshire Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and on several committees; and was a member of Tuckahoe Masonic Lodge No. 347, A.F. & A.M. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Fairfields Baptist Church, Burgess, Va. A memorial service will be held at Derbyshire Baptist Church, 8800 Derbyshire Road, Richmond, Va. followed by a reception in the fellowship hall at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2011. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Derbyshire Baptist Church, 8800 Derbyshire Road, Richmond, Va. 23229 or to American Parkinson's Disease Association, Inc., 135 Parkinson Ave., Parkinson Plaza, Staten Island, N.Y. 10305.
