ALLEN, Irene Gordon, of Emporia, died Thursday, December 10, 2009. Survivors include her husband, Alfred A. Allen; son, Todd B. Allen and wife, Kristie; daughter, Lisa Allen Harrell; three grandchildren, Marcus, Katie and Keith; three brothers, Samuel T. Gordon (Joyce), Billy Gordon (Cynthia) and Phillip "Buck" Gordon (Martha); three sisters, Lois Moore, Loraine Phillips (Jesse) and Paulette Flowers (James); and a number of nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by two daughters, an infant and Vicky T. Allen; brothers, Randy and Thomas "Pete"; and a sister, Charlotte Keesee. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd., in Jarratt, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2009. Interment will follow at High Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Vicky T. Allen Hands of Love Ministry, c/o High Hills Baptist Church, P.O. Box 296, Jarratt, Virginia, 23867.
