Jack Arthur Barnes

BARNES, Jack Arthur, 86, a former resident of Colonial Heights, died Thursday, April 14, 2010 in The Windsor Assisted Living Center. He was born in Evanston, Wyo., the son of the late Richard and Nancy Bettison Barnes; and the widower of Jeanette J. Barnes. The Barnes' resided in Colonial Heights until 1981, when they moved to Mesa, Ariz., where they spent their retirement years until recently moving back to Virginia. Mr. Barnes was a United States Navy veteran, a graduate of the University of Idaho, and retired from civil service at Fort Lee. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine B. Sterling and husband, Stan, of Illinois, and Gail B. Tanner and husband, Charles, of Massachusetts; two sons and daughters-in-law, Erik R. Barnes and wife, Melanie, of Richmond, and Kris H. Barnes and wife, Nancy, of Colonial Heights; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be private.
