I got to know Jim briefly in the 1980's through my friendship with Marty York. He was a very good guy. Please accept my condolences.

My name is Carmen Bickett, and I attended elementary school w/Jim and probably most of his siblings. Jim and all of the Bierowski kids were some of my very favorite childhood memories at that school. I remember intelligence, laughter, a great sense of humor and a very wonderful young man. I have not seen Jim or his family since that time, but I, too, relocated and am no longer in the Richmond area. I send my sincere love and respect to the vast Bierowski family wherever you all may be. We have lost a wonderful human, and my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I shall keep you all in my heart, and I will ALWAYS remember Jim and his sense of humor, intelligence and kindness. We are all saddened by this loss, but we must keep Jim in our hearts and souls and remember him as he always was (and always will be): a great humanitarian, a good friend, and a treasure to carry us forward in our lives. I mourn with you all, and I offer blessings and will pray for Jim, his immediate family and the vast Bierowski family. He and his siblings are a wonderful memory to me, and I will forever hold those memories close in my soul. L Carmen Bickett/Madeira Beach, FL

To my brother, Jim, who reminded me when Mom passed away that those we love so dearly never leave us as we carry them in our hearts forever. With a heavy heart, we ask God for His strength to guide our family through the difficult days ahead.

Jim's passing is both a sorrowful and joyful event for all of us to endure. Sad from the standpoint we no longer have Jim with us to share his many gifts and talents, but joyful knowing that he is no longer suffering and in pain but instead with his Savior in heaven and reunited with Mom and Dad. The last year and a half of Jim's life has been a GIFT from God with his miraculous recovery from his meningitis sickness. This gift of time allowed us brothers and sisters to visit with Jim during his months of recovery, drawing us ever closer as siblings. These will be times we will always treasure and hold close in our hearts. We love you Jim and will miss you.

I wish that I had an opportunity to have known Uncle Jimmy better but am thankful for the time that I was able to spend with he and the family during his his time at UVA. His strength, courage, and devotion to his passions and to others was admirable and will not be forgotten. May Ryan, Jake, Betsy, and all of Jimmy's family and friends find comfort in knowing that his pain has ended and may the fond memories of him bring smiles to your hearts.

Ryan: Even though you do not know me, I have been a friend of Glenda’s for over 30 years through the Dept. of Corrections. I have a son your age, and through the years, Glenda and I have shared so many stories with each other about ‘our boys’ which makes me feel as I do know you. I wanted to tell you our family is lifting you and your family up in our prayers and will continue to do so. I know you loved your Dad very much and I know you did all you could do during his illness and death; there was nothing more you could have done. I am so sorry for your loss.
