James Garner Obituary

GARNER, James Richard "Dick" Jr., widower of Hazel H. Garner, died Thursday, September 30, 2010. Mr. Garner was a former employee of English Boiler for 44 years, where he served as an engineer and boilermaker. He was a native and regular weekend resident of Lewisetta, Va., where he loved to fish the bay and be near the water. He is survived by two children, James R. "Jim" Garner III and Anne Spicer (Wally); his sister, Martha L. Rowe; his brother, Clarence Garner (Ann); two grandchildren, Helen Adams (Darren) and Rachael Barker; and one great-grandchild, Jack Adams. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society.
