Jean May PATTERSON

PATTERSON, Jean May, 83, of Richmond, formerly of Louisville, Ky., passed away Friday, October 23, 2009. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Morgan May; mother, Hazel Beauchamp May; and daughter, Patricia Ann Patterson. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Earl; son, Robert and his wife, Emily; grandchildren, Elisabeth Lee and Caroline May; sister, Ann McKee of Glen Mills, Pa.; and many other relatives and friends. Jean was a loyal wife, devoted mother and survivor of three open heart surgeries, dating back to 1974. She was an early and active member of the Mended Hearts Association, and often visited those facing and recovering from open heart surgery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. A celebration of her life will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Seventh Street Christian Church, 4101 Grove Ave., with Rev. Carolyn Schwarz officiating. Interment to follow in Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seventh Street Christian Church or the American Heart Association.
