William “Harold” Patterson, age 77, of Nashville, Tennessee, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on December 17, 2025. He was born on November 23, 1948, in Nashville, to the late Jack D. and Dorothy Patterson, and was the beloved identical twin brother of Herbert Patterson.
Harold graduated from Issac Litton High School, where he excelled in sports alongside his brother. His athletic talents earned him a football scholarship to Middle Tennessee State University, where the two brothers became known as formidable athletes. Harold graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education and briefly taught and coached football in Peachtree, Georgia, before returning home to Nashville. There, he began his career as a State Farm Agent, faithfully serving his community for 33 years.
In 1976, Harold gave his life to Christ, a decision that shaped the rest of his days. He treasured daily Bible study and lived his faith in a way that touched many lives. He welcomed exchange students from around the world into his home, teaching them about Christ along the way. Through both personal and physical challenges, his strength and perseverance came from his deep love for God and family.
Harold enjoyed a variety of hobbies throughout his life, including photography, golf, traveling, and flying airplanes as part of a local club. He especially cherished two trips to the Holy Land and several mission trips with his church, where he deepened his walk with Christ and built lasting friendships.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Harold found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He was present at countless ball games, recitals, and special moments, leaving a legacy of love and encouragement. Harold was a faithful church member and will be remembered for his warm spirit, steadfast faith, and the many lives he touched.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Janet Patterson; his children, Kara (McLean) Fowler, Kyle (Kathryn) Patterson , Melissa (Bryan) Kanongataa, and Katherine (Nicholas) Harland; grandchildren Price and Patterson, Hannah and Ava, Sophia, Ivy, Brock, and Violet, Zoë and Samuel; his twin brother Herbert Patterson; siblings Ann (Bill) Cordell and Jack (Necie) Patterson; and many nieces, nephews and other special family. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, church and community.
A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on January 10th at Metro Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, TN. Visitation will be held at 12pm with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2pm.
