Sue Patterson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Quinn-Peebles-Phillips Funeral Home & Crematory on Feb. 8, 2026.
Sue Logan Patterson, 92 of Broadway, faithful servant of Jesus Christ, passed away on February 7, 2026 confident in the promise of eternal life through her Savior.

Born in Surry County, North Carolina, Sue spent the majority of her life in Broadway, NC, where she built a life marked by steadfast faith, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and church. Her confidence in the Lord guided every season of her life, and she faced the end of her earthly journey with the same trust that defined her days.

For more than 65 years, Sue was a faithful member of Cool Springs Church, where she served joyfully and dependably in many capacities. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, served on the church council, and was active in women's ministry. She believed deeply in showing up, serving faithfully, and living out her faith through action – week after week, year after year.

Sue found great joy in God's creation, especially hummingbirds, flowers, and time spent gardening. She expressed her love through quilting and cooking, reflecting her heart - steady, nurturing, and generous.

Above all, Sue cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose steady presence, gentle wisdom, and unconditional love were a source of comfort and strength. Her life was a testament to faithfulness – faithful to God, faithful to her church, and faithful to those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Maggie Logan; her husband, Charles Patterson; her son, Edgar Patterson; and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Mike Dellinger and wife Pam; her daughter-in-law, Gail Patterson; grandchildren Brenda Holder, Jamie Swider, Bryan Wicker, and John Wicker, and their families.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of Parkview Retirement Village and Liberty Hospice for their compassionate care and kindness.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00-1:45 PM on Tuesday, February 10, in the sanctuary of Cool Springs Church in Broadway. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM in the church cemetery, with a reception afterwards in the fellowship hall.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
