CARNEAL, Katherine Pemberton, of Seaford, Va., formerly of Mechanicsville, Va., devoted, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her residence on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Katherine was 93 years old. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, John Everett Carneal; and her two sons, James David Carneal and Sterling Yoder Carneal. She is survived by her grandchildren, James David Carneal Jr., Kimberly Carneal Goehle and her husband, Greg Goehle, Jay Everett Carneal and his wife, Mary Morrissette Carneal, Courtney Carneal Melchor and her husband, Rick Melchor and Christopher Sterling Carneal and his wife, Sue Carneal; her great-grandchildren, Joel David Carneal, Shannon DeFaye Carneal, Adam Martin Goehle, Maxwell Carneal Goehle, Everett Taylor Carneal, Frances Darby Carneal, Morgan Embrey Melchor and Maren Page Melchor; and a host of other family and friends. Outside of her family, Katherine loved the water and fishing the best. She lived a full, happy life surrounded by her family and friends and was active in the Order of the Eastern Star. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, where services will be held Wednesday, September 29, at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3961 Deep Rock Road, Richmond, Va. 23233.

My Great-grandmother will be dearly missed. She was a wonderful person. She was full of life and energy and a loving person to all she was around. I will miss you dearly.

In times like these we need love and support. Mildred and I lost our oldest son very suddenly just a short few years ago. It is an allsome experience. Words can not begin to soften the blow, however dear friends and love ones can. We join in with your many friends and family sharing our love and support for you at this most difficult time. We do not know how you feel, but having just experiencing such a lost we have a real good idea. May God continue to be of strength and comfort. We stand with you and are ready to support. My Aunt Katherine Pemberton Carneal was a very unique person. She loved her mother and her family dearly. I all ready miss knowing she's here but considering that Grandmother and Pop's whole family is reunited now gives me a sense of peace. My sincere sympathy goes out to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed. Love to all,
