Obituary
Sarah Jean "Sally" Carneal
November 11, 1936- August 1, 2025
Sarah Jean "Sally" Carneal, age 88, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, in Benicia, California.
Sally was born on November 11, 1936, in Boise, Idaho, to Charles and Charlotte Staley Williams. She had one brother, Ernest. During her childhood, Sally's family relocated several times before settling in Chappaqua, New York, where she graduated from Horace Greeley High School.
After high school, Sally enrolled in Grace Downs Airline School in New York City. Upon graduation, she began her career as an air hostess with Capital Airlines, based in Chicago. It was there, during a chance encounter in the elevator of her apartment building, that she met a young medical student named Joseph Roncskevitz. A year later, Sally and Joe were married, remaining in Chicago while Joe completed medical school.
Following several moves during Joe's internship and surgical residency-and the births of their three sons, Stephen, John, and Richard-the family settled in Maine for five years and later in New Jersey for six. Seeking a quieter, safer place to raise their family, they moved to Worland, Wyoming, in August 1977. As Joe established his medical practice, Sally opened a ceramic shop, where she taught classes and built meaningful connections within the community.
In 1985, when Sally's marriage came to an end, she chose to remain in Worland, a town she had come to love deeply. In 1989, she met Clint Carneal, a widower and local building contractor. Clint walked into her ceramic shop under the guise of browsing and soon asked her on a date. They were married in March 1990 and enjoyed 35 wonderful years together in Worland. Clint passed away just four months ago, on March 30, 2025.
Following Clint's passing, Sally relocated to Benicia, California, to live with her son John and daughter-in-law Tami. While she cherished her time with them and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she deeply missed Clint, her Worland community, the fellowship of the Worland Senior Center, and CrossPoint Baptist Church.
On July 3, 2025, while returning home from routine pacemaker surgery, Sally suffered a massive stroke. After three weeks in the hospital, she chose to forgo further treatment and requested to return home. She passed peacefully on August 1, surrounded by her family.
Sally is survived by her sons, Stephen (Elena), John (Tami), and Richard; daughter by marriage, Sally Molina; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clint, her parents; her brother, Ernest, and her granddaughter, Sarah.
Services will be held Friday, August 8, 2025, at CrossPoint Baptist Church, 1101 Big Horn Ave, Worland, WY. Viewing begins at 9:00 a.m., service at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery and a luncheon at the church. Dr. Fred Smith will officiate. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
Sally's family is grateful for the time they had with her and for the legacy of love and compassion she leaves behind.
