Elizabeth Viola (Whitehead) Turgeon
June 25, 1937 – October 5, 2025
Elizabeth V. (Betty) Turgeon, age 88, passed away on October 5, 2025 in the Hot Springs Health Emergency Room in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Betty was born on June 25, 1937 in Lunenburg, Vermont to Frederick George and Lila Estella (Nichols) Whitehead.
Betty was raised in Vermont and New Hampshire, where she received her education. She moved to Ten Sleep, Wyoming in 1981. She worked at the Ten Sleep Senior Center until she retired in 2002. Betty moved back to Vermont for a couple of years, but eventually made her way back West when she made her home in Thermopolis, Wyoming in 2005.
Betty enjoyed walking, swimming, reading and spending time with her grandkids and step-grandchildren. She enjoyed being a foster grandparent through the school system for twelve years.
Betty loved traveling to Vermont and New Hampshire.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Hazel Wood, Minnie White, and Sarah Cox; brothers, George, Donald and Allen Whitehead; and granddaughter, Tracy Peterson.
She is survived by stepsons, Daniel (Stine) Turgeon of Ten Sleep, Wyoming, Donald Turgeon and Gene Turgeon of Woodbury, Vermont; stepdaughters, Donna (Terry) Batt of Worland, Wyoming, Melody (Lock) Goss of Russellville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Lee (Lindsey) Turgeon, Eddie Turgeon, Kadi Peterson, Savannah Fellows, Josh Turgeon, Ian Turgeon and Wyatt Turgeon; 4 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; nieces, Evelyn Carter and Ann Marie Pina; nephew, Francis (Mariane) Spimpson, along with, many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Thermopolis Senior Center. Please send checks to PO Box 524 Worland, Wyoming 82401. Online condolences may be made at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
