KRISTIN BILLINGSLEY Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Jan. 6 to Jan. 7, 2011.
BILLINGSLEY, Kristin Leigh, 23, of Chesterfield, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on January 3, 2011. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Farron Gould. Kristin is survived by her devoted parents, Mitch and Patti Billingsley of Rockville; loving brother, Jamie Billingsley and his wife, Hillary, of Glen Allen; sister and soulmate, Ashleigh Kaye Billingsley of Rockville and her boyfriend, JT Trobaugh; loving grandparents, Roy and Carole Billingsley of Ashland; precious niece and nephew, Caroline and Camden Billingsley; adoring aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her beloved canine companions, Jedi and Wickett. Kristin will be remembered for her keen sense of humor, her love of animals, and her caring nature towards family and friends. She was such a blessing to those whose lives she touched, and for this gift we will be eternally grateful. Her family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 7, at Berea Baptist Church, 15421 Pouncey Tract Road, where a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 8. A celebration reception will immediately follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to B.A.R.K., P.O. Box 1682, Glen Allen, Va. 23060, or the animal shelter of your choice.

Patti, Mitch, Ashleigh-Kaye, Jamie, and extended families,

Kristin touched my family's lives in warm, fun and insightful ways. As Zach said, "Kristin was so intuitive and sympathetic." She was such a unique soul, and will be greatly missed by many. Our lives were enriched for knowing her, and we feel blessed to know your family. Our hearts ache for you. Please know you remain constantly in our thoughts and prayers, we love you, and we are here for you.

Dear Mitch, Patti, Jamie and Ashleigh Kaye-

You have always worn your heart on your sleeve for one another. It has always been evident to everyone at work and at school how much you cherish your family and love one another. We share your sorrow at this time and we are praying for you.

"Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. Whatever we were to each other, we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the same easy way you always have. Laugh as we always laughed, at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Think of me and smile. Pray for me. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same, as it always was. There is absolute unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past. Nothing has been lost. One brief moment and all will be, as it was before-only better. Infinitely happier. We will be one, together, forever."

May God bless you.

To the Billingsley Family,

I had the opportunity, a blessing really, to meet Miss Kristin summers ago while she was working with a young man with Autism that I hold very dear to my heart. I must say that I've never met such a patient and kind individual. Her love for animals and her kindness towards others was apparent from the moment we met and I was deeply inspired by her dedication to her endeavors. Ultimately, the summer of experience with that particular young man and observing her work with him inspired me to do something along the same lines and to adopt the same spirit of kindness and gentleness that Kristin had to all I do. I found Kirstin to be a very inspirational and beautiful woman and I am deeply saddened by the news of your loss. I am praying for your family and friends through the loss of such a remarkable young lady.

Nature By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

As a fond mother, when the day is o'er, Leads by the hand her little child to bed, Half willing, half reluctant to be led, And leave her broken playthings on the floor,
Still gazing at them through the open door, Nor wholly reassured and comforted By promises of others in their stead, Which, though more splendid, may not please him more;
So Nature deals with us, and takes away Our playthings one by one, and by the hand Leads us to rest so gently, that we go Scarce knowing if we wish to go or stay, Being too full of sleep to understand How far the unknown transcends the what we know.

Holly and Shane Manke

May you find peace with one another to carry you through this.

Dear Patti and Mitch:
We are just heartbroken for you and your family. This picture of Kristin is beautiful----in some ways, her picture reminds me of your mom---also a beautiful lady. I know your mom was there to meet Kristin at Heaven's gate and simply hold her in her arms with a giant hug as only a grandmother can. I can also hear your mom's voice welcoming her home! Blessings to you all --- I pray for your comfort as you deal with this tragedy. Know that she is safe and loved with her Lord---and with your mom! Prayers to you all!
