MORRIS, Mr. Lawrence Earl, 81, of Buckingham County, passed away Wednesday morning in Lynchburg. He was born July 15, 1928 in Buckingham County. He was the son of the late Lacy Earl and Dorothy Senger Morris. Mr. Morris retired as a rural letter carrier and a lifelong farmer. He served in the United States Army from February 1955 until February 1957. He was a longtime Deacon and Trustee at Concord Baptist Church at Shepherds. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathryn Ayres Morris; his son, Lawrence Claiborne Morris and wife, Roma; daughter, Susan Morris Underwood; his grandchildren, Matthew Underwood, Elizabeth "Libby" Morris and Ashley Underwood; his sisters, Elsie Kidd and Helen Chappell; brother, Claude Morris Sr. and wife, Shirley; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 27, 2009, 11 a.m. at Concord Baptist Church at Shepherds, with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, 7 to 8 p.m., at the Puckett Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Concord Baptist Church Building Fund. Puckett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
