Joyce's Obituary

Joyce Jean Shifflett, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, 81 of Crozet, VA passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, wrapped in the love of her family and wonderful caretakers at The Harbor. 

Born on July, 5 1944 to the parents of Mary M. Shifflett and Arthur C. Shifflett was a woman of incredible warmth and resilience. She dedicated her life to her family, raising 4 children with endless love, patience, and wisdom. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and delicious homemade meals.

Joyce will always be remembered for her love language of cooking good meals, gardening, and always always wearing a big smile on her face. The memories of her allowing all the children to get away with as much as possible, will be forever be remembered. And can’t forget her love of good country music. 

She leaves behind her devoted husband of 53 years, Walter Clarence Morris Sr;  four children- Gonde Pace (Jay), of Ruckersville, Walter Clarence Morris II (Nancy) of Ivy, Rhonda Martin of Ruckersville, and Greg Morris (Felicia) of Scottsville.  She had ten Grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her siblings; Susan A. Shifflett of Lovingston VA, Linda S. Youhess (Mark) of palmyra VA , Michael L. Shifflett (Dana) of Dumfries VA, Arthur C. Shifflett JR of Illinois, and two very special sister-in-laws Doris Shifflett of Stanardsville VA and Selma Bailey of Crozet VA. 

Joyce is reunited in heaven with her mother Mary M. Shifflett, Her father Arthur C. Shifflett, brothers: David W. Shifflett, Jackie B. Shifflett, John G. Shifflett, and James L. Shifflett. 

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 2:00pm at Anderson’s Funeral Home 5888 St. George Ave. Crozet Va. Family will receive visitors from 1-2pm. There will be a graveside at Mt. Plain Baptist Cemetery 4281 Old Three Notched Rd Charlottesville VA 22901, to conclude Service. 

The family would like to extend their many thanks to Crystal Fisher, the staff at The Harbor, Trinity Hospice and her NP Tina Rutt for taking such amazing care of Mama. Words cannot express how much we appreciate the love and extraordinary care you all gave her.
