LINDSEY HOPKINS Sr.

HOPKINS, Lindsey "Hoppy" Harrison Sr., age 88, of Richmond, passed away December 11, 2009. A native of Amelia County and raised in Surry, Hoppy answered the call of duty and served his country in World War II as a U.S. Army sergeant in Europe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edwina. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara H. Joynes and her husband, Dr. Michael Joynes, of Newport News and Diane H. Cundiff of Chesterfield; three sons, Jimmy Hopkins and his wife, Pam, of Lanexa, Lindsey Hopkins Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Chesterfield and Mark Hopkins and his wife, Valerie, of Richmond; a sister, Alice Owens of York County; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday, December 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Road, and where funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 15, at 10 a.m, with interment following at Maury Cemetery in South Richmond. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
