Elizabeth Drayton Hopkins

Elizabeth Drayton Hopkins, 61, of Wayne, PA passed away on November 14, of respiratory failure in the company of family and friends.

Elizabeth/Wizzie/Wiz/Liz was born on October 12, 1964 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Richard Stockton (Stocky) Bullitt Hopkins and Elizabeth (Bessy) Wistar Drayton Hopkins.

In 1984, Elizabeth graduated from The Gunston School in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, where she found her mojo and met some of her dearest friends. After Gunston, she went on to graduate from Centenary College (now University) in Hackettstown, New Jersey. At Centenary, she earned a degree in Business Administration and Management, General. She was a member of the Business Club, Education Club, Psychology Club, and the Kappa Psi Delta sorority. Once again, she hit her stride and made many more lifelong friends.

After school, she found her business home at Powers, Craft, Parker and Beard in Rosemont, PA. She worked for and with them for more than 25 years, and she once again made some of her dearest friends.

Elizabeth was a passionate and self-taught photographer "focusing" particularly on nature – cardinals, deer, flowers, and the moon – as well as fireworks. She also enjoyed regular "movie nights", theater trips to New York, and the annual Philadelphia Flower Show with her friends.

Friends and family remember her for her sweetness, purity of thought, and kindness; her silly sense of humor (never met a pun she wouldn't use again) and inability to use curse words; her love of Peanuts – particularly Snoopy and Woodstock; each and every one of Philadelphia's professional sports teams (E-A-G-L-E-S!!!), and mostly her friendships.

Survivors include her mother, Bessy Hopkins, and her siblings, Stockton and Mary Hopkins.

A memorial service will take place at Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr, PA on Thursday, December 4 at 11 am. Burial will be private in the Churchyard.
