Sandra (Sandy) Keefe McMullin
May 20, 1939 – October 22, 2025
Sandra "Sandy" Keefe McMullin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, David B. McMullin, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and partnership. Together, they built a home full of warmth and community in Newtown Square.
Sandy is survived by her three children – Anita (wife Jamie), Dana, and David Jr. (wife Kristen) as well as five adored grandchildren: Elliott and Olivia Nguyen; Abigail, Avery, and Reid McMullin. She is also survived by extended family and many dear friends who were drawn to her fearless individuality, inquisitive spirit, and deep sense of commitment to those she loved.
Born on May 20, 1939, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Sandy was a lifelong resident of the Main Line. She graduated from the Agnes Irwin School (Class of 1957) and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania (Class of 1961), where she was a proud member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Her time at Penn nurtured a lifelong love of learning that remained central to who she was – curious and open minded. A veracious reader, she was known for her sharp mind, creativity, and wit – qualities that made her both a thoughtful conversationalist and a source of wisdom to those around her.
Sandy's love for clothing and accessories was instilled at a young age. Accompanying her father, Joseph Keefe, on overseas trips to source fine materials for his clothing store sparked in her a deep appreciation for craftmanship, textiles, and design. That early exposure blossomed into a lasting passion for style and earned her a black belt in fashion. As a ladies' clothier, she had an artist's eye for beauty and a gift for helping others express themselves through what they wore – always with impeccable taste and a touch of flair.
Sandy's delight in color and texture was not limited to the manmade; she had a lifetime love of flowers and gardening, tending her gardens with care and joy. A longstanding member of the Flower Guild at the Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr, she found both a creative outlet and enduring friendships.
A deeply committed woman, Sandy's dedication extended beyond her family and friends to those organizations affiliated with the things she held dear – nature, community, and philanthropy. She was a longtime member of the Suburban Garden Club, the Sedgley Club, the Merion Cricket Club, and was actively involved with Chamounix Mansion.
Since 2013, Sandy had been a beloved resident of Dunwoody Village, where she brought her trademark warmth, humor, and inclusiveness to all she met. She often served as the unofficial welcoming committee for new residents in East Country House Village – helping them feel at home and part of the community from the very first day. Her compassion extended beyond people to the natural world: she was an active member of the Dunwoody Wildlife Refuge Committee and proudly served as Fire Warden for the East Village Hallway.
Sandy was compassionate and a source of strength for many. She was also fiercely independent and unafraid to speak her mind – qualities that endeared her to those who valued her honesty and spirit. She approached life with authenticity, courage, and conviction, and those who knew her best will remember her for her vibrant personality, her quick wit, and her deep empathy.
A memorial service to celebrate Sandy's life will be held at the Church of the Redeemer, 230 Pennswood Road, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania 19010, at 11:00 a.m. on November 24, 2025. A reception will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the church parish hall. All who knew and loved Sandy are warmly invited to attend.
In keeping with her love of nature and flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lakes Region Conservation Trust, PO Box 766, Center Harbor, NH 03226. (tel: 603-253-3301; email: [email protected])
Sandy's memory will live on in the gardens she tended, the books she cherished, and especially the lives she brightened through her compassion, independence, humor, and steadfast love.

Sandy I miss you. I miss the laughs we shared even though we might have been the only ones who understood why we were laughing.
Love to all in the family.

Sandy was creative and courageous. She shared herself with warmth and humor. She regularly welcomed my dog and me for visits on her porch, even when we interrupted her activities. It was a joy to know her. - Berta Britz

Valiant! Sandra has been my friend since we were 4 years old. She was smart, curious, and clever. As a classmate at Agnes Irwin Sandy was a star. Life events showed us that Sandra was a star over and over again.
I always was in touch for her birthday,May 20 and never did my friend let on that sometimes life was tough.
If Sandra was your Granny ,you are most lucky. She was so proud of all your accomplishments.
I´ll miss you Miss Keefe thanks for your friendship, Joan CARRIGAN Forester, AIS, class of 1957
