Margaret D. Tintera

Margaret Anne "Peggy" Tintera (née Downey), born to Anne and John T. Downey Sr. and raised in Ardmore, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the age of 86.
Peggy grew up in a close and loving Irish immigrant community and graduated from Lower Merion High School. At a very young age, she and her brother became members of their uncle's Washington Memorial Pipe Band, performing at Irish events throughout the Philadelphia area. Peggy went on to graduate from West Chester University, where she met her beloved husband, Edward S. Tintera III.
Peggy and Edward spent the early years of their marriage living in the Poconos, where they started their beautiful family. They eventually moved back to the Ardmore area, and became known for opening their large and welcoming home to others.
Peggy was fortunate to marry an accomplished pianist in Edward, and together they created many joyful evenings around the piano with friends and family, singing her beloved Irish songs. Peggy's home was known not only for its music but also for the love that radiated through it. She had a rare gift for recognizing and loving those who needed it most. Many friends became family because of Peggy's ability to bring people together. Whether it was offering a place to stay or adding an extra seat at the dining room table, all were welcome in her home and in her heart. She was so much to so many.
Her family holds very fond memories of her-especially the eventful cross-country road trips with her children and "Grammy Camp" for her grandchildren-always ensuring that each person knew just how precious they were to her and how deeply loved.
Peggy built a distinguished career in hospital billing administration and served for more than 25 years as Director of Billing for Children's Anesthesiology Associates at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Through her career, Peggy made lifelong friends with whom she shared cherished memories and endless laughter.
Peggy is survived by her children: Edward S. Tintera IV (Mary), JB Tintera (Lisa), Joanne Mullin (John), and Margaret Reasoner Baise (Wade); her grandchildren: Jake Mullin (Abbie), Taylor Reasoner Carraway (Keeley), Kaitlyn Tintera, Bridget Mullin, John Tintera (Jessica), Ali Tintera, Logan Reasoner (Kiersten), Savina Tintera Rodgers (Andrew), Madison Tintera, Courtney Tintera, and Ava Reasoner; her seven great-grandchildren, and one more on the way.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward S. Tintera III; her brother, John T. Downey Jr.; and her son-in-law, Matthew Reasoner.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ardmore, PA.
