Nellie Zulean Patrom

PATROM, Nellie Zulean, age 98, a lifetime resident of Chesterfield County, passed away Friday, November 13, 2009. The sixth of 10 children of the late Porter and Magnolia Robinson Patrom, she was born in the Beach Community. Her entire life may be characterized by an untiring dedication to the service of others, her church and the community. She was leader of the Chesterfield Court House 4-H Club; at her church, First Baptist Centralia, of which her grandmother, Nellie C.R. Hill, was one of the founders in 1867, she served as superintendent of the Church School and provided leadership and support in other ministries for many years. She served with distinction in the Chesterfield School System for 32 years. Her faithful service over many years has left its mark on all who knew her. Survivors include sister, Magnolia Patrom; brother, Oakley Patrom; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, including, Howard Patrom, a most devoted nephew; numerous cousins, friends and neighbors, among them, Mozelle Preston, Walter Cheatham, Roger Trent and James Allen, Artis Wallace, Helen Friend, William Clements (Mildred) and George Bediako (Benito); a special caregiver, Mary Kigathy. Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull St. A service of Remembrance and Love will be held at First Baptist Church, Centralia, 2920 Kingsdale Road, Richmond, Va. on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 12 p.m. Dr. W.E.B. Shannon, pastor, officiating. Interment Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Va.
