Norman Henry HAYES

HAYES, Norman Henry, 89, of Silver Spring, Md., passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Mr. Hayes retired from Firestone Plantations Company, Harbel, Liberia in April 1981, and served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Virgie Alice (Porch) Hayes; wife, Madeleine Jeanne (Omnes) Hayes; sister, Irene (Hayes) McCune; and brothers, Ralph and Grant P. "Red" Hayes. He is survived by his son, Grant C. Hayes and wife, Miriya, of Ft. Belvoir, Va.; daughter, Olivia C. Immerman and husband, William, of Rockville, Md.; four grandchildren, Elina Espigh, Grant C. Hayes II, Michael Hayes, and Nick Farrell, four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty J. Tray of Irwin, Pa. and Marilyn J. Dunshee of St. Paul, Minn. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Vincent V. Rodgers Funeral Home Chapel, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, Pa., with Rev. Darlene Williams officiating. Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, with full military honors.
