Richard Henshaw Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Sep. 4 to Sep. 5, 2010.
HENSHAW, Richard Franklin, 93, of Glen Allen, departed this life on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Henry Henshaw and Rosa Alice Henshaw; and by his brother, Alfred Henshaw. He was a veteran serving his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War and was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He worked as a skilled mechanic during his career and after retirement, he spent his time running a flea market booth in Mechanicsville, enjoying the social life it brought him, well into his later years. He is survived by his son, Richard Keith Henshaw of Glen Allen; his daughter, Debra Henshaw Lewis of Lakeside, their mother, Virginia Sinlock Henshaw of Lakeside; his sister, Helen Henshaw Massengill of Richmond; his grandsons, Thomas R. Lewis Jr. and Kenneth S. Lewis; and a number of nieces, nephews and brothers- and sisters-in-law as well as many friends. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Richmond, located at Monument Avenue and the Boulevard, with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Flowers are welcome, however, if preferred, please feel free to make a donation to your favorite charity or cause in his memory. Arrangements by Bliley's-Staples Mill.
