Robert Hilker

HILKER, Robert (Bob) Allen, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2009 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Bob was born in St. Louis, Mo., and was a 1952 graduate of Washington University School of Engineering. He served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Belvoir, Va., from 1953-1955. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 40 years for Standard (Amoco) Oil Company. Bob was a member of Church of the Epiphany in Richmond; OWLS Senior Group and Circle 8 Square Dance Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Helen (Haupt) Hilker and his sister, Ruth (Jack) Held. Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joanne Carter (Anne); and their five daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Homer Tourkakis, Jeanne and John Draper, Mary and Ken Sherlock, Meg and Keith Anderson, Amy and Jon Howe; and 12 grandchildren, Christine and Megan Tourkakis, Jennifer, Caroline and Jacob Draper, Andrea and Kevin Sherlock, Jacob, Justin and Carter Anderson, and Jackson and Julianna Howe. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 1 at the Chesterfield Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 14301 Ashbrook Pkwy., Chesterfield, Va. A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Epiphany Catholic Church.
