Grandaddy, This will probably be the last time i get to write to you before this journal expires. Im doing really well in nursing school and my grades are high. Im almost done. I graduate in May 2011. Im so excited but scared at the same time that i have to an adult now. Ha! Im trying to graduate with honors this year, but it has been tough, but i know it will be well worth it. I was thinking about you in the car the other day, and couldnt believe its been a year. Bobby, Please accept my belated condolences. My mom and dad also send you their prayers to you and your family. I recently drove by our houses on Cullen Rd and it brought back many good memories. As a young kid I remember your Dad to be a gentle but always helpful in many ways. Regards,

Charlene and Family,
I'm so sorry for the passing of your Dad. I have so many wonderful memories from our visits at the beach each summer and the fall goft tournaments. Mr.Smith had such a gentle and loving spirit about him. He was always so generous with each wonderful dinner that we all would share in at the Library. I will never forget him and the special times our families enjoyed together. My prayers are with each of you during this difficult time.

Bobby, so sorry to hear about your Dad. I'll always remember growing up and going to play golf at the Par 3 course in Colonial Heights after church on Sunday. We were just starting out with golf and he had lots of patience with us. Always remember his great smile and fun attitude...always teasing and laughing. Please give my best wishes to all the family. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I will always remember Miss Barbara pulling up to the store and looking to see if he was in the car with her. It was such a pleasure to see his smiling face and hear all of his jokes. He was such a lovable ,funny and caring man. I know that I will surely miss him, but I know he is where GOD needs him to be.My thoughts and prayers are with you.My daughter wanted to add that he made her night when last year at the Christmas party, he said if she didn't have a date he would be hers. She will miss him.

We would like to pass along our sincere condolences to the Smith family. The charity golf tournament we established was the beneficiary of your family's generousity for many years. Never once did I speak with Mr. Smith that he was not smiling. We wish you all comfort and peace in this difficult time.

Granddaddy,
You will be greatly missed. All of us grandchildren will never forget the wonderful times at the beach and in the pool. Listening to you play your piano and keyboard that you loved so much. And can never forget all the golf ball pyramids that still to this day we all love to aggravate your staff by building them as high as we can and then watching them all tumble down causing a huge racket in the store. But it was always allowed because we were the granchildren. I know you are in a better place watching down on all of us hoping that we will all succeed in anything that we put our minds too. I will see you Thursday, Im sure you will be dressed sharp as you always did. I bet you Michele will still rub your shirt tomorrow as she always did. We love you and i will see you again one day when my time has come. BUt until then, i know you are there watching over all of us keeping us all in line. Thursday will not be a day to mourn but a day to celebrate your life and all the wonderful accomplishments you acheived in your lifetime.
