To the Family;
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived, and may "the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation..." be with all of you during this most difficult time. My sincere condolences go out to the family.

That's my Aunt Rose, coming to be with us when our grandmother passed!

My dear Aunt Rose Person Allen,

Thank you for showing us how to do family. You showed us that although sometimes it may hurt, we should do for them any way. Sometimes it may cost us but we should contribute anyway. Sometimes it will take time, but it is always worth it. I think I patterned my life after you: I love to write, I love to keep family history, I majored in English and taught English. I love my family and I thank you for your daughters and grandson who are inspirations to me. Dianora's quiet strength, Valerie's organizational skills, and Brandon's faith. I am glad you were in Richmond to be closer to them these last years.

I will miss our chats; our trips down memory lane; your explanations, and your insights into family, African American and American history.

I love how the family and city came together to show you their love in your favorite colors.

My love to you,

"Ispy"

Valerie, my thoughts have been flooded by Mrs. Allen and especially her and Mama--the admiration that they had for each other. Ms. Allen was a gem and the Butts Family is so fortunate that she did not feel it robbery to spend time with us and share her gifts with us. I was telling someone that whenever some would approach Mama about someone doing some writing or something educational, she would always say, "I tell you who you need to get, Rose P. Allen." Always wondered why she had to call her by her whole name...LOL...but that was the admiration that Mama had for her. Wow, what a jewel she was. She was always supportive of me in my high school years and everything educational wise I was pursuing. I will miss her but I am glad I have the sweet memories. My prayers and thoughts are with you, your sister and Brandon and the rest of the family. Love to you all.

You all have begun the journey down a path that we all must someday travel. Even though the path you are now traveling seems dark and lonely, God is with you. He will guide you and he will be there for you every step you take.

Mrs. Allen was a wonderful woman, she will be sadly missed, but her gestures of caring, goodwill, and kindness will be part of your spirit now as you go forward in your life. My deepest sympathy for the loss of your mother, grandmother and friend. May you find peace and comfort in the memories that you cherish.

To The Allen & Person Families
On behalf of my aunt, Thelma Person and the St. John families; I wish to extend my heartfelt sympathy in the homegoing of Ms. Rose. She was truly a beautiful, warm and charming person, who always made my family and I feel welcomed and at home when visiting Emporia. One of my fondest memories of Ms. Rose was at her 70th birthday party. I am blessed to have known her and her memory shall live on forever in my heart. Seek comfort in the Lord. For he is always with you. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can not heal.
