Ruby Lowe Obituary

LOWE, Ruby West, 93, of Wakefield, went to be with her beloved Lord on December 3, 2009 at Chippenham Medical Center in Richmond. Born February 13, 1916 in Southampton County, she is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, G. Franklin Lowe Sr. She is also survived by one son, G. Franklin Lowe Jr. and his wife, Mildred B. McCarthy-Lowe, of Richmond; two grandchildren, Lisa L. Martz and husband, Tim, Reynold C. Lowe and wife, Kimberly. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Cody, Joey and Linsea Martz, Keaton, Lainey and Kinley Lowe; four stepgrandchildren, Ronnie W. McCarthy and wife, Susan, Robert W. McCarthy Jr. and wife, Diane, Gerald C. McCarthy, Tracy M. Mulroy and husband, Tim; sister-in-law, Lucille West of Newport News; seven stepgreat-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard West; and a sister, Jessie West; a stepsister, Margaret Rickerson; and a stepbrother, Harold Branch. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December, 6, 2009 at 3 p.m. at Rocky Hock United Methodist Church in Wakefield, with Rev. Ronald Eason of Richmond and Rev. Roy Drake of Sedley officiating. Burial will follow in the Rocky Hock Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rocky Hock United Methodist Church, 1629 Aberdeen Rd., Wakefield, Va. 23888. The family would like to express our thanks and appreciation to her sister-in-law, Gaynell and her husband, J.C. Whitmore Jr., and the many friends and neighbors in Wakefield, who have helped her in recent years and especially to the staff and nurses at Chippenham Medical Center.
