Earl,
You and your family have my deepest sympathy, love, and prayers. I shared the basement of the Bland home with Ruth in Petersburg when I did student teaching and she worked on her master's degree. She was a sweet person. I am Katurah Cooke's sister. We did not know of Ruth's illness or death until two weeks ago.

I have to sign your wife's book because I was just in shock when you told me last week that your wife had passed. I am not sure how this got past the Dominion Family without word getting around. Please know that I will keep you and your family in my prayers during this difficult time.

Mrs. Boswell was one of my daughter's elementary school teachers. I found her to be a loving, kind and caring instructor.

I am so saddened by the passing of my dear and long time friend, Ruth. We shared so many wonderful times at Virginia State. I'll remember her laughter, her kindness, her spirit and her loving ways. Her love of family and friends was strong and faithful. She is now at peace and without pain.
All of you whom she loved so dearly have my deepest sympathy, love and prayers that God will strengthen you with His love and that the precious memories of Ruth will sustain you now and always.
