BRISTOW, Ruth Selecman, 98, of South Carolina, formerly of Goochland, Va. passed away October 11, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Odie Lee Selecman and Jennie Franck Selecman of Richmond, Va.; her sister, Virginia Selecman Savage of Virginia Beach, Va.; and her husband, Marshall A. Bristow Jr. of Goochland, Va. She is survived by her sister, Martha Ann Selecman Wood of Winnsboro, S.C.; nephews, John Austin Savage Jr. and his wife, Alice Hill Savage, of Virginia Beach, Va., Richard Henry Wood and his wife, Barbara Wood, of Williamsburg, Va., and Robert Thomas Wood and his wife, Elaine Lyman Wood, of Grayson, Ga.; and great-nieces and nephews. Ruth retired as a teacher with the Richmond Public School System with 35 years of service. Ruth will truly be missed by her family and friends. Family will receive friends at the Norman Funeral Home, 2982 River Rd. West, Goochland, Va., on Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 2 to 3 p.m. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 4 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a chairty of your choice.

Mrs Bristow was my 4th grade teacher at Summer Hill School. She was a great teacher to all of us. God Bless her and the family at this time. She will be greatly missed. She was one great lady.
