I met and worked with Walt in Saudi Arabia from 1997 to 1998. He was a great guy and I am proud to call him my friend. I kept in touch with Walt and Gloria after leaving Saudi Arabia and was of course very sad when Gloria left us way too soon. I was very fortunate to have visited Walt less than a year ago at his home in Milton when I was visiting Eglin AFB on business. We spend the late afternoon together and then went out for a great dinner. I also got to meet his new dog and had some fun tossing the ball over and over. I will miss Walt, as I know everyone else will too, but I am glad "we had some time together." Rest in peace, Walt. Your friend, Drew Mullin

My youngest daughter is married to Walter's only son. I knew him as Big Walt and my three grandson's knew him as Grandpa. I was very privileged to share five people very special to me, with him. He was a very confident, fun loving man who loved his family and enjoyed his grandkids immensely. We would laugh and share stories about Logan, Tyler and Garrett and affectionately referred to them as The Clarke boys.
Whenever the boys came to visit for the summer, I could always count on him for help with them. You can imagine that there was no shortage of things to repair when they were playing. Big Walt could fix anything and he was always happy to do so. I am going to miss being able to rely on him. I am going to miss his friendship and the relationship he had with my daughter and grandsons. We won't ever be able to replace those and we won't ever be able to replace him.

"A gentle giant with a big heart." That says it all. Walt and I shared many good times together in Saudi Arabia - he treated me very well, even though he beat me at cribbage too often. I was glad that I was able to help him find a job a NAVAIR when he needed to return home - Walt normally didn't need help. He graciously offered to let me stay at his home in Milton for many months during my divorce; he was a good counselor and I should have taken more of his advice! I will miss his smile, his humor, his errant golf shots, and his warm friendship. I am a better man because Walter was my friend.

I worked for Walt when PMW-225 Foreign Military Sales (FMS) sat under NADEP in 1992 and resided on NAS Pensacola. He always made the team smile with his manner, laugh and style. Our deepest sympathies and best wishes for his family at this time...knowing Walt is still watching over all of you from a higher vantage point.

There are no words we could use to express our sorrow at hearing about the passing of Walt Clarke. He was a gentle giant who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. We will always remember his laugh, keen sense of humor and kindness to all of his neighbors -- in particular us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to JR and his entire family. He will be missed!
